After nearly 14 years, Jujuba Software is back. Back in 2012, our Elements Weather Forecast was selected as one of the eight apps to launch with Microsoft Windows 8 Consumer Preview. There were only two of us building these apps back then.

A lot has changed since. Many of the Windows apps we released afterward are no longer in the Windows App Store. Though we have remained good friends, my business partner and I are pursuing different paths now. After working on various projects at several companies, I’ve decided to bring Jujuba Software back to life. Although I’ll probably revive some of the previously published Windows Store apps, they are not going to be the main focus going forward.

We’ve released an update to our free Windows 8 Clock app.

Most notable changes are:

• Wide (large) live tile added as option
• Alarm sound is now continuous
• Several performance improvements

We are proud to announce that an updated version of the Unpacker app is available in the Windows 8 app store.

The main feature of this update is compatibility with ARM-based devices running Windows RT.

You can now unpack files compressed by RAR, 7Z and other archival and disk imaging software right on your Windows RT tablets. We actually had this functionality ready to ship with the original release but wanted to thoroughly test it on real ARM-based device once it became available. We tested it on Microsoft Surface RT and Asus Vivo Tab RT and work worked flawlessly. We are interested to hear from owners of other devices. Web are glad to announce that “The Little Mermaid” children multimedia book is now available in the Windows 8 app store.

We are pleased to announce that Jujuba Software Unpacker is now available in Windows 8 app store for x86 and x64 platforms.

Unpacker is a useful utility for decompressing archived files. It supports several dozen archive and disk image formats old and new. Full list of supported file extensions is found at the end of this post.

The development of the app is ongoing. Our main goal is to validate the app stability on ARM platform releasing the ARM version of the app.

Today we have released a new Windows 8 Modern UI app Ping. It allows you to easily check and monitor network connectivity speed between your Windows 8 device and other computer either on the local network or the Internet

The app is not based on ICMP protocol but instead relies on establishing TCP/IP connection and measuring packet latency down to 0.1 millisecond. By default port 80 is used. But custom port can also be specified (ex: mysever:443)
